Welcome to Lakewood

Lakewood is a case study in having the best of both worlds: a well-established neighborhood only 10 minutes northeast of downtown Dallas, but an environment that trades concrete and steel for something more serene.

Indeed, outdoor pursuits and strong community bonds inform daily life. Lakewood borders a vast stretch of Dallas' recreational crown jewel—White Rock Lake—and is also home to one of the highest-rated schools anywhere in the Metroplex: Lakewood Elementary.

The variety of homes in Lakewood create awe and inspiration—an abundance of foliage and green space frame grand, timeless mansions and quaint, picturesque cottages. It truly is an authentic urban oasis.

Lakewood is one of the most established communities in East Dallas. The median household income is nearly $90,000, and the area is well known as a popular place for families.

The neighborhood, though, is also a draw for young professionals and empty-nesters looking to keep Dallas at arms-length.
Dining, Shopping & Entertainment
While it may not feature the buzzy nightlife of communities closer to Dallas, Lakewood has several excellent places to enjoy a great night out.

Mi Cocina and Meso Maya are both DFW favorites serving Mexican-inspired dishes and drinks. Hudson House brings East Coast flavors to east Texas tables. Sa Sa Sushi delivers on its promise of incredible Japanese cuisine.

Afterward, take in some live jazz music and a fantastic menu of drinks at The Balcony Club, next door to The Lakewood Theater.

Speaking of which, no visit to Lakewood is complete without catching a glimpse of the area's most iconic landmark. The former performance house still retains much of its art deco charm, only now as the high-end bowling alley Bowlski’s

Things to Do

The main draw to Lakewood is White Rock Lake, a 1,250-acre recreational reservoir that forms the community's eastern border. A large segment of the Dallas Marathon course (formerly the White Rock Marathon) runs around the lake.

Lakewood also has the Lakewood Village Farmer's Market from February to August, celebrated as one of the best such markets in Dallas.

Arguably one of Dallas' most famous neighborhood retail landmarks, the Lakewood Shopping Center helps form part of Lakewood's charming Town Square. The center plays host annually to Light Up Lakewood, a cherished holiday event on the community's calendar.
